“CNC capable” needs specific connections
A machine torch or remote-start port is only one part of CNC integration. The table controller may need divided arc voltage, arc-ok transfer confirmation and torch-height-control signals. Verify the exact connector pinout and voltage ranges with both manufacturers.
Arc-start method matters
High-frequency starting can create electrical interference that disrupts motion controllers and computers. Blowback or contact-start designs are often easier to integrate, but compatibility still depends on grounding, cable routing and the equipment maker's instructions. Never improvise connections inside the plasma cutter.
Pierce capacity is the practical limit
CNC shapes usually start by piercing rather than entering from an edge. Published severance thickness can greatly exceed safe pierce capacity. Use the mechanized cut chart for pierce height, delay, cut height, speed and amperage.
Consumables and torch geometry affect consistency
Mechanized consumables, shield caps and ohmic-sensing parts may differ from hand-cutting sets. A straight machine torch is easier to mount than a hand torch, but some tables support either. Check replacement cost, local availability and expected life with clean air.

- Confirm remote torch on/off support.
- Verify raw or divided arc-voltage output.
- Check arc-ok and height-controller compatibility.
- Prefer a manufacturer-approved machine torch where available.
- Use CNC pierce and cut charts, not hand-cut ratings.
- Plan grounding, ventilation and fume control for the table.
